In reaction: PPP will not tolerate biased decisions against its leadership says Marri

The government will complete its term, says information minister.

KARACHI: In a third press conference on the National Reconciliation Ordinance in 24 hours, Shazia Marri issued a warning that the Pakistan Peoples Party would not accept any decisions against its leadership.

This press conference was held at the party’s media cell. It came in reaction to the Supreme Court’s decision to reject a review petition of the federal government. “Time and again we warn the quarters concerned that the PPP will resist any ‘biased decision’ and start a campaign under the parameters of the law,” she said with Taj Hyder at her side.

Marri said that the hanging of PPP founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was “judicial murder” and once again a conspiracy was being hatched to victimise the current PPP leadership.

The information minister said that the PPP-led government was thinking of strengthening democracy, but the leaders of other political parties had started a race by convening rallies and public gatherings against the government.

“The leaders of the PPP have rendered sacrifices for democracy and nothing will happen to the incumbent government, which will complete its term,” she remarked.

The party’s general secretary in Sindh, Taj Hyder, said that million of rupees were spent hiring the services of a renowned lawyer to lodge what he referred to as bogus cases against the PPP leaders, but nothing had been proved.

“We demand the apex court register cases against those people who instigated NAB and other institutions to lodge false cases against our leaders,” he said.

He went on to say that President Asif Ali Zardari, who is also co-chairman of the party, had spent many years in jail. Saif-ur Rehman, the former National Accountability Bureau chief, had already confessed his crime during a meeting with Zardari, saying that all cases against him had been politically motivated.

He quoting a statement by Saif-ur Rehman, that the former NAB chairman had registered cases against Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari on the directives of the then prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

“We are ready to face whatever consequences emerges after the court decision, but history cannot forget these traitors, who in the name of patriotic citizens, are hatching conspiracies against democratically elected governments,” he added.
