To provide speedy justice to people, mobile courts will soon be established in Swat Valley. This was said by Peshawar High Court (PHC) Chief Justice Dost Muhammad Khan while addressing the Swat Bar Association (SBA) on Friday.
“Inaccessible and slow justice plays a vital role in derailing the society and it is also the root cause of intolerance and militancy in the country,” he said, adding that the initiative will not only give easy access to justice but it will also decrease the burden on regular courts.
“The mobile courts will handle minor cases, such as those dealing with family disputes, land disputes, demarcation issues and civil disputes which will be resolved on the spot,” Khan said.
Responding to the demands of the lawyers’ community, the chief justice said that the government intends to launch various projects to provide maximum facilities to lawyers.
He also urged the lawyers’ community to play their role in delivering speedy justice to the people.
The decision on mobile courts was widely appreciated by the lawyers as well as members of the civil society. “It is a good step towards justice as minor issues will be resolved on the spot through a free and fair process,” said SBA President Asghar Khan.
“Petty issues such as street crimes often take months to be resolved but with the introduction of mobile courts the situation is expected to improve significantly,” said Niaz Ahmed Khan, a local journalist.
