Murder: Convict escapes after being sentenced

FAISALABAD: A convict fled from court premises after he was given a life sentence. He was identified as Shehbaz. The court issued his arrest warrants and directed the City Police Officer to produce Shehbaz in court on November 28. In the same case, another convict was sentenced a man to death and a female accomplice was also imprisoned for life. Ahad Shah, the man given the death sentence, was convicted of killing Saqib Shah in the office of SP Lyallpur Town over old rivalry. Shah’s father, Sattar Shah; Adil Shah; Kausar alias Pathani, an Elite Force constable; and Shehbaz Ali were also accused of being accomplices in the murder. The court after recording evidence found Ahad Shah, Kausar and Shehbaz guilty. Ahad Shah, Kausar and Shehbaz were also asked to pay Rs200,000 each as compensation in addition to their sentences. Sattar Shah and Adil Shah were acquitted.
