Singh remained unbeaten in all the three matches he took part in.
The final match of the event proved to be a one-sided affair as Pattanwala looked out of sorts against a more confident Singh. The Pakistan wrestler tried to adopt a defensive approach to slow the match down. However, Singh proved to be too good for Pattanwala and managed to pin him down to register the victory just minutes after the match started.
The other wrestler in the India contingent, Jagroop Singh, suffered an injury early in the event and was ruled out of the competition.

Actually Syed - original punjab consists of Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, New Delhi and part of UP. There is over 100M punjabis in India...so its not that bad for Pakistan if you compare numbers - as they are roughly even.
@Rsingh
I am an Indian and find your comment & mentality LOATHSOME. The spirit of sportsmanship is what counts, not who won. Please read the manifesto of the revived Olympics, held in 1896.
Please also try and become a human being before you use words to injure others without cause. The power of speech and communication by written word is unique to humans and is therefore a Divine gift. Kindly try to remember that when the impulse to injure strikes you.
If you are so proud to be Hindu or Sikh, then remember that your God sees all with the same love: samadarshi, never as Pakistani, Muslim, Christian, believer, infidel etc. Those categories are created by the diseased human imagination.
In first fight sitender singh almost broke the neck of jani pelwan by sitting and riding on it and making good use of his weight, knee and gravity without effort. I was really worried that jani pelwan might end up with broken neck and paraplegic after fight. And was more worried as he was taken to hospital after fight.
@Ramesh Kumar: Small correction: In fact, Haryanavi wrestlers won 17 medals – out of the total 19 medals won by Indian wrestlers – in the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
Nice comments from pakistani people here... nowadays indians and pakistanis keep on hurling abuses at each other all over the web..
Kushti is a great sport with roots in subcontinent... we can churn out better teams than iran or east europe if it is well supported... And things are not rosy in India as well... Our women's kabaddi team which won gold medal in punjab were stranded after tournment because their hotel bills were not paid, and they had to go home in autorickshaw holding the trophy because organizers did not even have the courtesy of dropping these players home...
I hope we situation improves in both countries
Good show India.
Our Pehalwan had high cholestrol issues and had high trigylecerides in their blood because of Paya and Nihari diet.
i think its the diet :)
must have a good excuse because defeat is hard to accept!!!!!
@Rsingh1200: I'm Indian and I like my beef. And Pakistani kids grow up on water and complan, right? Poor them, no access to milk at all!
Milk wins over Beef.
Pattawala looked out of place, he never looked eye to eye with much smaller satinder singh. pattawala seemed like he was forced in to the bout. he kept on going out of the ring which became pathetic when satinder singh had to request him to come back for the fight many times.
Great event it is. Congrats and many thanks to Pakistani govt to organize this dying sport and inviting Indians over. this will go a long way to make people to people contact better in the future.
Its sad though that rana sahib came too late in the event that delayed the fight. rana sahib should show more respect to the pehalwans.
@ Arbab: I believe this result has a lot to do with the team selection. Yesterday, i saw in a news channel that a protest was carried out by the neglected wrestlers who have not been selected for this 'Dangal' due to personal likes or dislikes.
Haryanvi Jats will always be champion in this sport
With the arrival of the synthetic mats wrestling has become highly technical and fast paced with the Iranians dominating in Asia. Nice to see the old school dangal in the mud is still alive and kicking. Welldone Pakistan, congratulations India.
Even though I am not Punjabi but it hurts me a lot.
“Asli Punjabi tou India main hain”, Indians invaded yahoo rooms, twitter with this after humiliating us at our own home turf as Indian Satindar Singh won the third and final encounter of the Indo-Pak Dangal in Faisalabad, defeating Pakistan’s Ali Imran Pattanwala in a highly convincing show to lead India to victory in the wrestling event. Pakistani wrestler just won against injured Jagroop Singh who had a broker hand. How many Punjabi Indian has 30,000,000 in comparison to Pakistan’s 80,335,300 but in Punjabi Sports we have no comparison. Pakistan also lost to migrated Indians in Kabbadi in the form of USA and then Canada, which you can say are 30th or 40th Indian standard kubbadi teams. “Jo mehnat karay ga kamyabi us k qadam chommay gi, jo hm nahi krtay”

Congratulations to Pakistan govt. for organizing this Indo-Pak wrestling event. And Pakistani media also played great role in giving good coverage to this event. Pakistani wrestlers also gave their best.
Previously, Indian wrestlers won 19 medals - including 10 golds - at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Whereas Pakistani wrestlers won 3 medals at that event. Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar won the gold medal at 2010 World Wrestling Championships. Nowadays, nearly all the top Indian wrestlers are from the Haryana state. The above mentioned wrestler - Satinder Singh - also hails from Haryana. Haryanavi wrestlers also won 16 medals - out of the total 19 medals won by India - in the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
squash finished, hockey and cricket being finished and now wrestling finished.... arrest this or we will become burundi, burma or lesotho...countries who never feature in any global sport and never make a mark for themselves.....
The Indians literally destroyed our wrestlers; the fights ended in minutes
Desi Kushti and kabbadi are very popular in East Punjab. The wrestlers and Kabbadi players are highly paid and very well respected. There are so many Punjabi movies and songs about their achievements. Mdeia and organzers of this event in Pakistan have done a great service to this dying sport. If trend continues, soon we will see new generation of wrestlers and kabbadi players. Defeat is bad, but there is no shame in it. I see light at the end of the tunnel.
