ISLAMABAD:

The employees of Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) continued their protest against the management’s alleged disregard for policies on Tuesday. They staged a rally from Babul Quaid to the administration block.

Employees Welfare Association (EWA) President Hassan Shah led the rally accompanied by the university’s lower-grade staff.

“My struggle is for the greater cause of protecting the rights of the employees as the university’s incumbent registrar is blatantly violating the rules and regulations,” Shah told The Express Tribune.

As a result, the university’s lower grade employees are deprived of their due rights while the senior and influential officers are availing the perks and privileges, he added.

Shah demanded that the university management bring forth all illegal appointments made during the last two years. They should strictly adhere to the university’s green book in the future, he added. Shah vowed to continue protests till his demands are fulfilled.

Meanwhile, a statement issued by the university administration stated that Shah was charged with assaulting fellow transport staff at the university on December 14, 2010.

Shah was penalised by two separate inquiry committees and then issued a charge-sheet, to which he has still not replied.

The EWA president rejected all allegations levelled against him and said that he will submit his reply for the charge-sheet by Wednesday (today).
