Hindu killings: Police release 8 suspects after JUI visit
JUI leaders only had to threaten the Shikarpur police with blocking the National Highway.
SUKKUR:
After a visit from the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam on Monday, the police released eight suspects being questioned for their possible involvement in the killing of three Hindus in Chak over Eid. JUI leaders only had to threaten the Shikarpur police with blocking the National Highway to have eight of their men immediately released. These men were, however, not named in the FIR and hence could not be kept in custody without court clearance. This is why the party’s men met the Shikarpur SSP on Monday and asked him to release the people who were not mentioned in the FIR. According to reports, the Chak police had rounded up more than 25 people, including women, after the triple murders. While 10 of the suspects were released within two days, 15 more were kept for questioning. Out of those 15, seven people, including a JUI supporter Moulvi Ehsanullah Bhayo, were booked. That left eight suspects. They include Abdul Basit, Saleem Mallah, Bilawal, Abdul Samad, Anees and Abdul Raheem from the JUI.
