Meesha Shafi: Art meets chemistry

The news of model-turned-singer Meesha Shafi’s inclusion as an actor in Mira Nair’s Hollywood venture The Reluctant Fundamentalist was leaked a few months ago. However, according to koolmuzone.com Shafi and her beau Mahmood Rahman will also be lending music to the film. Mahmood has produced the track himself while Shafi has powered it up with her vocals.

This was earlier under speculation because it is only seldom that a musician-turned-actor doesn’t provide music for the film he or she is starring in. The co-star Rizwan Ahmed also known as Riz MC — who is playing the lead role of Changez — is also a musicians-turned-actor from UK, reports koolmuzone.com.

The Reluctant Fundamentalist’s Delhi schedule started this month with most of the scenes being shot with actors Liev Schreiber, Kiefer Sutherland and Ahmed. Shafi also shot some of her scenes with Ahmed and with Canadian actor Sutherland at Humayun’s Tomb in Delhi.

According to timesofindia.com, the next session of filming is scheduled near Ajmeri Gate. The cast and crew have already filmed in Nehru Place, Khan Market, Noida and other areas of the capital. According to sources, New York and Istanbul have also been added to the long list of shoot locations.

The film also stars veterans like Om Puri and Shabana Azmi along with Hollywood actor Kate Hudson, and is slated to be out next year.

I wish Mira had taken a Pakistani actor. Would have added a lot more authenticity to the role.

Great read, the book is. I hope the film lives up to expectations!

Mira Nair!!!

Liev Shreiber! Keifer Sutherland!!! Shabana Azmi!!!

The short novel by Mohsin Hamid, acclaimed for his "moth smoke"; which i hoped would be the first novel adaptation, will be given a big boost by this adaptation. Although i am looking forward at a few changes in the picture but still...

This is fabulous news!
