Speaking to the media in Mandra, Sharif said that the Memogate issue should not go unnoticed by the government.

“Had the government been acting upon the Charter of Democracy then such an issue would not have taken place.”

Bugti case: ‘Musharraf should undergo trial’

Sharif said that former president Pervez Musharraf should undergo a court trial in the Nawab Akbar Bugti murder case.

The PML-N leader said that “when a person like Zulfikar Ali Bhutto could be hanged to death, then Musharraf should not be spared on the basis of his previous post in Pakistan Army.”

 ‘Democratic process must continue’

Sharif said that the democratic process must continue with the senate elections and that the PML-N was not scared of the polls. He said the polls should be carried out on the decided time.

Sharif said that that it was not necessary that the government would win the polls as all members in both provincial and national assemblies were not from Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

He said that the PML-N never endangered the sovereignty of Pakistan. The PML-N chief added that many a time, the PML-N had protected Pakistan’s sovereignty and that it had “never traded it.”

Blame-game

Sharif said that PML-N speaks on issues like the Abbotabbad Commission and killing of journalists. He said that many politicians come on the forefront and played a blame-game, but never spoke about any of these issues.

He said that it saddened him how the media had forgotten about Saleem Shehzad and Wali Khan Babar. Sharif added that an inquiry should be done until the face of the culprit is brought to the front.
