‘ECO chambers meet to promote regional trade’

The forthcoming Economic Cooperation Organisation Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ECO CCI) executive committee meeting and other specialised committee meetings will go a long way in the promotion of trade and economic relations in the ECO region and open a new era of cooperation amongst the member countries, stated FPCCI President Senator Haji Ghulam Ali. 


ECO CCI is the composition of the national chambers of the 10 members’ countries including Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan. The meetings are being organised in Pakistan after three years and will be held in Karachi from November 19-21.

The specialised committees on arbitration, trade facilitation, tourism, transportation, women entrepreneurs’ council and industry and investment will discuss the future activities of ECO CCI and promotion of intra trade and economic relations in the ECO region.

The executive committee meeting to be held on November 21 will review the reports/recommendations of the specialised committee meetings which will be submitted to the respective government of the ECO states.

The executive committee meeting also aims at discussing all bottlenecks hampering trade in the region. The meeting will also discuss proposals and suggestion to utilise the geographical and natural advantages of the region.
