Rawalpindi Court Murders: IG asked to submit security plan

LAHORE: The inspector general of police (IGP) was told to submit a comprehensive security plan for all courts in the province on Friday. The directions were issued by the new Lahore High Court Chief Justice, Sheikh Azmat Saeed, during the hearing of a case where four people were murdered inside Rawalpindi district courts’ premises. Former LHC Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry had taken suo motu notice of the incident. When the hearing started, the chief justice remarked that the court would give the responsibility of protecting the lives of citizens to another institution if police was unable to protect them. At this, IGP Javed Iqbal assured the court that security would be ensured inside court premises. Rawalpindi city police officer also appeared and presented an investigation report of the incident. Justice Saeed adjourned further hearing till November 29.
