Culture: Thaap conference concludes with poetry recital

LAHORE: The week-long Thaap Conference concluded at Alhamra Art Gallery on Friday with a poetry recital.

Shehzad Ahmad, Manzar Hussain Akhtar, Ghafir Shehzad, M Shoab, Sibtain Raza and Hassan Shahnawaz Zaidi read their verses.

Zaidi said that the fact that all poets at the event were from Lahore was a testimony to the city’s great tradition of arts and literature.

The audience at Friday’s event was smaller than at some of the earlier events particularly the sessions featuring scholarly papers and screening of documentaries, arts and crafts exhibitions and theatre performances.

Saba Samee of the organising team said Thaap had already started planning for the next year’s conference. She said Thaap lectures series as well as meetings of the organising committee would be held throughout the year.
