KALLAR KAHAR:

In a second accident in two months on Motorway, four people died when a Lahore-bound bus overturned in the Salt Range near Kallar Kahar on Motorway. More than 16 people suffered injuries, Motorway police sources told The Express Tribune.

Four people died on the spot while two of the critically injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital Chakwal. Some of the injured were later shifted to DHQ Rawalpindi.

The driver of the bus (K-6225 Peshawar), coming from Dir, told the passengers that its brakes had failed just before entering the Salt Range area, Israr Ahmed Arain, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Motorway) said, quoting the passengers.

However, at one of the many sharp curves in the Salt Range area, the driver lost control over the bus and it overturned after hitting the median. The diver suffered serious injuries.

Police said most of the passengers were the residents of Malakand and were going to Raiwind to attend a religious congregation. The dead were identified as Daud Iqbal, Naimatullah Khan, Muhammad Shafiq and Muhammad Kabir.
