Justice Shahjehan had submitted his resignation to protest the promotion of Justice Dost Muhammad.
The PHC judge, while speaking to The Express Tribune, said that he was the senior most judge and that it was not appropriate for him to carry on with his duties as his seniority was not being respected.
“I sent my resignation to the president because it was the second time that judges junior to me were promoted” said Shahjehan. “I do not feel it is appropriate to continue my duties at the bench any longer.”
Justice Muhammad was sworn in as the chief justice of the Peshawar High Court at the Governor House in Peshawar today.
Justice Ejaz Afzal had previously superseded Justice Shahjehan for the post of chief justice and was promoted to the ranks of a Supreme Court judge.
