‘Focus on education and character building to face crisis’

Training programme for FDE students announced.

ISLAMABAD:

The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) joined hands with Sir Syed Institute of Leadership to train 10,000 FDE students to become active and responsible citizens.

This was announced by Sir Syed Memorial Society (SSMS) President Brig (retd) Iqbal Shafi during a media briefing here on Tuesday. He said that in the first phase of the project, 10,000 students from different FDE schools would be trained.

Giving details of the project, He said that more than 450 teachers and principals from 115 schools would also participate in the orientation seminar on November 18, titled “Inspire Pakistan Program”.

“Today the country is facing a tough crisis, and the reason is lack of education. So there is a need to focus on their education and their character building,’’ he said.

He explained that after getting two years of training, the students would be able to perform as active and responsible citizens of the country.

Shafi said there is need to time to mobilise and train the youth of the country, which constitute 60 per cent of the population.

Sir Syed Institute Director Wali Muhammad said that the project draws strength from a trading component, whereby 10,000 students will be impacted in the spirit of learning life skills and citizen skills.

SSMS Vice President Munir Ahmad Chaudhry informed that the project was put together in response to the fact that of the 15 largest countries in the world in terms of population, Pakistan has by far the youngest population, with 111.5 million of the total population of roughly 180 million below the age of 30.
