More than 20 militants were reportedly killed and nine militant hideouts were destroyed when the security forces retaliated.
“The militants were hiding in nearby mountains and opened fire on the convoy which was followed by firing rockets. Security forces retaliated the attack and killed 20 militants. One of our major succumbed to his wounds,” the official added.
The area was declared "clear" by the security forces previously; however, incidents of violence have regularly been reported from there.
The information about the clash could not vein across due to the fact that the area is isolated from other areas and communication is very low.
In a separate incident, officials confirmed a second attack from militants in the Shadala area of Ghaljo, where rockets were fired to target a convoy.
“The second attack happened in the same manner like the one in the Kurram Agency. The militants were hiding and they targeted the convoy. The attack was retaliated and four militants were killed. One of our soldiers sustained minor injuries and is out of danger now,” the officials confirmed.
Earlier, a policeman was killed while another was injured when a remote-controlled explosion took place near a police checkpost in the Shabqadar tehsil of Charsadda.
Police officials added that the checkpost was situated on a main road, linking Mohmand Agency with Charsadda and Peshawar. Meanwhile, the funeral prayers of the slain policeman were held with senior police officials, including Peshawar city police officer (CPO) in attendance. The areas close to the tribal region have often been the target of violence.

I suppose the 9 militant hideouts were tolerated and maybe supplied by Pakistan until they suddenly reneged on your duplicitous agreement where they got protection/sanctuary in return for them leaving you alone. Hard to have sympathy for people who have no honor --- that includes both the Taliban and Pakistan.
This war has no end. Two superpowers got destroyed here. Only talk and negotiations will end this conflict.
The terrorists in Kurram are sectarian fanatics; they should be eliminated through force
Hardly a day goes by when innocents are not killed and military checkpoints and convoys are not attacked. The agenda of these terrorists is to create mayhem, which in turn gives rise to fear in everyone. Their short history has shown us both in Afghanistan & Swat that they thrive in an atmosphere of fear and intimidation.
Extremists with Taliban ideology will never give up their evil agenda. They will continue to destabilize the region. Is this not the time to go after them full force and eliminate them once and for all, so that people of the region can go back to building their lives in peace and prosperity?

More army officers killed in this american war of terror than 1948, 1965, and 1971 combined!
Get out of this american war and establish peace with locals, no point pushing aggression while US is looking to exit
and now after 10 years...our beloved army is learning....THEY ARE THE BEST ARMY IN SPIRITS...but the sad fact is they still need to train more and hard to keep up with the tactics of these terrorist and killers called TTP !!!!!!!!! I know its a bit difficult to fight an (WOLF) enemy dressed as a sheep !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pakistan army will lose its moral when this war will go for ever. Mothers will no longer want their sons killed for a cause which is to please America.
Kurram agency Pakistan's Gaza Strip.
We should stand behind our brave soldiers. Fighting an insurgency in an inhospitable terrain takes lots of guts even for the most well equiped army basicaly trained for set piece / pitched battles.
@Sao Lao: Well said my friend
MashALLAH, Pakistan army's spirits are very high. soldiers are being led by the commanders on the front line and laying down their lives in the path of Allah and this is not just one example.
Keep the morale up men. we are always with you no matter what anyone has to say because in end all they can do is to whine and cry while sitting on comfy office chairs and home drawing rooms. it absolutely doesn't matter
eliminate the fitna from its roots. TTP and all other local and foreign militants creating terror including foreigners using the land of Pakistan to further their agenda must be eliminated.
