The girl had earlier claimed to have been abducted from the Rajastan province.
She was found at a road side in Ghalib Market after which locals took her to the Lahore Child Protection Bureau.
The girl said she belonged to the Dholakpur Village and had been drugged and kidnapped from outside a temple.
However, her claims fell apart after she was unable to point out details about her origins while talking to an Indian reporter through Express News.
After seeing the girl on television, her parents reached the news agency and said this was the third time their daughter had run away from home.
The girl, who has been missing since Sunday, is lamenting her actions and claims she ran away because her parents were forcing her to marry.
Earlier reports of the girl aspiring to become an actress and this being a publicity stunt have also been proved wrong.
The girl will stay with the Child Protection Bureau and is to be presented before a magistrate before being handed over to her parents.
