Hand-Grenade attack: ‘Peace to be restored at all costs’

Gilgit-Baltistan CM hailed the Gilgit police’s performance.

GILGIT: Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Mehdi Shah has vowed to restore law and order in the provincial capital after it was rocked by a hand-grenade attack late on Monday.

“The peace of the city will be restored at all costs,” Shah told reporters in Skardu on Tuesday. He hailed the Gilgit police’s performance, saying that security forces successfully arrested the accused immediately in a timely operation after the incident.

The chief minister asked officials and people to be vigilant and ‘keep an eye out for every suspected person’ to foil attempts of terrorism in the city. On Monday night, unidentified men hurled a hand-grenade at a shop allegedly from a moving car, injuring three persons. The incident occurred at Punyal Road near a main mosque.
