Agricultural research: PARC approves Rs1.94b annual budget
The budget included Rs1.30 billion for operational expenses and Rs1.61 billion for establishment expenses.

ISLAMABAD:
The Board of Governors of Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (Parc) here on Tuesday unanimously approved the annual budget of Rs1.94 billion for the financial year 2011-2012. The budget included Rs1.30 billion for operational expenses and Rs1.61 billion for establishment expenses. Federal Minister for Food Security and Research, Mir Israrullah Zehri while presiding over the Board meeting at Parc, said the government was giving high priority to the agriculture research and development to meet the challenges of food security and poverty. He urged the Parc scientists to play their effective role for the development of agriculture sector to meet the growing needs of the population. He further said the latest technologies must reach the small farmers so that they could play their role in the national economy.
