Pm’s directive: Gas supply to fertiliser plants restored

Meeting was told that the import of urea would start during the third week of November

ISLAMABAD: On the instructions of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, the Ministry of Petroleum has immediately restored gas supply to all fertiliser plants of the country so that they can produce fertiliser to their maximum capacity. This was decided in a meeting presided over by Federal Minister for Petroleum Dr Asim Hussain, which was attended by representatives of fertiliser plants and senior officials of relevant ministries, according to a press release issued by the Prime Minister’s House here on Tuesday. It was decided that availability of urea to the growers in sufficient quantity will be ensured which is important to increase the yield of wheat crop to meet the target. The meeting was told that the import of urea would start during the third week of November and the import process would be completed by the middle of next month.
