No PPP member will resign before 2013 elections: Warraich

Warraich says that if Qureshi was a man of discipline he should have resigned during his ministry’s tenure.

LAHORE:
President of Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Punjab faction President Imtiaz Safdar Warraich said on Tuesday that neither his party members nor any opposition members will resign before the upcoming election in 2013.

Speaking to the media at Lahore Press Club, Warraich said that former PPP MNA Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s claims to be “a clean person” would be judged in the coming polls. He added that Qureshi's resignation was because of a change in his portfolio and that his claims that he resigned on the demand of PPP's workers were baseless.

He said that if Qureshi was a man of discipline then he should have resigned during his ministry’s tenure.

Warraich said that there was no threat to PPP from Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and that Qureshi had made a blunder by resigning as he had earlier resigned from Ziaul Haq league and Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N).

He said that the PPP would hold party worker organization at district and division level to strengthen the party.

He also said that the Punjab faction of PPP supports and trusts President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani.

Warraich also ruled out rumors about the formation of a PPPforward bloc in the Punjab Assembly.
