‘Ruining’ private education: Private school owners don’t want to pay up
The All Pakistan Private Schools Alliance of Founders (APPSAF) announced to stage a protest camp next to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) rally at Dhobi Ghat Ground on November 20.
Alliance members, in a seminar held on Monday, objected to Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) issuing notices to private schools setup in residential areas, asking them to pay commercialisation fee. They also complained that Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) was charging private schools exorbitant amount under the head of regularisation fee.
They said that the board of education had increased registration fee for private school students. Other government departments are also “harassing the private educational institutes for social security, old-age benefits and other taxes”, the members said.
They said that such “harassment” would only “ruin the business of private schools”.
They warned the Punjab government that if not heed was paid to their concerns, they would protest next to PML-N’s rally on November 20.
They threatened the government that if the issues weren’t resolved, the owners of all private schools will boycott the candidates of provincial and national assemblies in the coming general elections.
