Wheat: Farmers body seeks price review

Government’s failure to review the price in time could cause a 15 to 20 per cent decline in wheat production next year

LAHORE: Farmers Associates Pakistan (FAP) president Dr Muhammad Tariq Bucha has demanded the government announce the support price of wheat within seven to 10 days. He said the government should increase the support price in proportion to the hike in prices of agricultural inputs. He said government’s failure to review the price in time could cause a 15 to 20 per cent decline in wheat production for the next year. Bucha said about six million tons of wheat was still lying unused with the government and immediate measures should be taken to use the stock.
