CHENGDU:

As many as 52 countries, including Pakistan, participated in the 12th Western China International Fair (WCIF) held in Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan province in central China, where the estimated sale of Pakistani exhibitors reached RMB 5 million despite fierce competition from other Asian countries selling similar products.

Around 78 enterprises from Pakistan exhibited their goods at the fair. The crowd was attracted to Pakistani handicrafts, leather goods, furniture, food items including rice and spices as well as gift items.

Talking to the media, Ambassador Masood Khan said the government is making all out effort to increase trade volume between Pakistan and China, particularly for reducing Pakistan’s trade deficit.

He said mutual trade between Pakistan has exponentially increased during the past decade and this upward trend is likely to continue in the future as well, enabling the two countries to reach the $15 billion figure earlier than expected. During the WCIF-2011, investments projects worth RMB 945 billion were signed.
