Baig’s unbeaten ton gives Karachi fine start

Hosts end day on 247 for four against NBP in Quaid Trophy clash.

Karachi Blues were off to a decent start in their sixth round Quaid-i-Azam Trophy match against NBP thanks to an unbeaten 100 by Hafiz Asad Baig as the hosts ended the first day on 247 for four.


According to information provided by the Pakistan Cricket Board, Baig’s innings was laced with 14 hits to the fence. He was well-supported by Khalid Latif who made 51.

For NBP fast-bowler Wahab Riaz, who was dropped from the national squad recently, picked up two for 39, while Qaiser Abbas also found himself among the wickets.

Sajid powers PIA

Elsewhere, PIA were comfortably placed on 253 for two against Sialkot with Kamran Sajid scoring a patient 122 from 201 deliveries.

The other significant contributor was Shahryar Ghani who made 68, while Test discard Faisal Iqbal remained unbeaten on 46.

SBP struggle against Rawalpindi

Meanwhile, SBP were in a difficult position having been reduced to 162 for five owing to some incisive bowling by Rawalpindi.

Babar Naeem impressed with three for 25, while Mohammad Ramiz picked up two scalps. SBP’s innings was held together by Ramiz Raja, who was unbeaten on 68, having stroked 16 boundaries.

Nazir shines for ZTBL

ZTBL were in command against Abbottabad, reaching 305 for three with the help of  Imran Nazir, who was unlucky to be dismissed for 99. Shahid Yousuf scored 77, while Haris Sohail made 73.

Islamabad dismissed for 232

Meanwhile, Wapda dismissed Islamabad for 232 with Rana Navedul Hasan picking up four wickets. For Islamabad, Imad Wasim top-scored with an unbeaten 51, while Afaq Rahim (44) and Umair Khan (42), also contributed.

Kaneria stars for HBL

Faisalabad were reduced to 219 for eight after Danish Kaneria picked up a four-wicket haul. Zeeshan Asif’s 66 and Naved Latif’s 51 were the highlights for the hosts.
