Blind dolphin found dead near Sukkur

The body of a blind Indus River dolphin was found near Sukkur on Saturday, the second such incident in two days and another embarrassment for the Sukkur Wildlife Department.

The blind dolphin is already an endangered species and is only found in two rivers, Asia-Ganges and the Indus River.

Earlier, the decomposed body of a blind dolphin was found near the Abdul Ghani Chachar village in Ghotki. A wildlife department deputy conservator, Ghulam Mohammad Gadani, had said that the dolphin was male and had most probably died 25 days ago.

He added that the dolphin had to be buried near the village as it had decomposed so much that it was impossible to carry out an autopsy.

Nearly 26 dolphin have died in Sindh since January 2011.
