Railways property: Committee reviews illegal occupation

Sub-committee was also informed that one acre of land was occupied by individuals for commercial use.

ISLAMABAD: A sub-committee of the Senate Standing Committee on Railways held a meeting on Friday to review progress on the illegal occupation of Pakistan Railways land in Lahore.

The meeting was held under the head of the sub-committee Senator Abdul Ghaffar Qureshi. Briefing the sub-committee, Director Technical Railways Lahore Abdul Saeed Khan said that they had successfully vacated 13 acres of agriculture land, 4.5 acres of commercial and 4.27 acres of residential land so far.

In the committee meeting held last month, it was learnt that 98.32 acres of Pakistan Railways property in Lahore was illegally occupied by unidentified individuals. The sub-committee was also informed that one acre of land was occupied by individuals for commercial use while 97 acres were being used for residential purposes.
