ISLAMABAD: The nationwide poverty survey under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has been completed across the country, barring Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).

The survey exercise in seven FATA agencies was still in progress and likely to be completed by end of this month, an official at BISP said on Friday. The official added that as the survey was carried out on a priority basis, it began in Balochistan.

The number of beneficiaries declared eligible after analysis by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) was 3.16 million.  The official said that Rs50 billion had been allocated to the BISP for the current fiscal year.
