LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court on Friday issued a notice to District Coordination Officer Ahad Cheema in a contempt of court petition seeking action against him for defying a court order.

Petitioner Mansoorul Aziz, who is a retired clerk in the Education Department, submitted that Cheema had failed to issue him a Rs8,000 grant of benevolent fund under the head of welfare/dowry fund despite court orders.

The petitioner said he had needed the grant to meet expenses of his daughter’s wedding. He said he had moved LHC against the DCO after the latter failed to deal with his application for over a year.

The petitioner said DCO Cheema had committed contempt of court by not issuing the grant in accordance with the earlier court order.

He requested the court to summon the officer and take action against him under the relevant law.

Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah adjourned the hearing till November 17.
