KARACHI: An alleged target killer identified as Aqeel alias Tapla was arrested by the police in North Nazimabad on Thursday. The authorities claim that Tapla and an accomplice had planned to mug people in front of Health Care Hospital near KDA Chowrangi. While they were stealing money and a cell phone from taxi driver Muhammad Farooq, he started shouting for help. As soon as a police van got there to help him, the men shot at it. The police managed to detain Tapla while his accomplice escaped. They claim that Tapla was affiliated with the Sunni Tehreek and his accomplice was also a target killer. They added that Tapla had been arrested twice before but was released on bail. North Nazimabad SHO Asim Siddiqui said that Tapla was allegedly involved in killing activists of the banned Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan and two men from the Pakhtun community.
