Six cricketers including Misbah-ul-Haq, Salman Butt under income tax microscope
Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq, was found out to be a defaulter of Rs3.69 million while batsman Imran Nazir was found to be defaulter of Rs1.1 million.
Two of the players under investigation have already been issued recovery notices on account of defaulting on their tax payments.
The players were issued notices under Sections 114, 116 and 122 of the Income Tax Ordinance. They have been asked to submit returns on their income and to provide information regarding their assets.
Meanwhile, sources say that cricketer Aziz Ali has been issued a show cause notice but he has yet to reply.
Wahab Riaz has also been served a show cause but he too has not given information regarding his assets.
Imran Farhat has been issued notice under section 114 and 116.
The Federal Bureau of Revenue has also launched a probe into the assets of former national team captain Salman Butt. Butt was recently found guilty of accepting money in spot-fixing scandal by a majority jury verdict in England.

FBR can't collect tax from corrupt politicians. It is easy for FBR to go after these cricketers. If FBR needs to prove their honesty they need to show their competence to collect Tax from Rich Politicians first on their foreign assets hiding in swiss bank accounts.
Salman Butt had confessed in London court that he made over 1.5 million pounds. I hope the tax authorities go after him and the two other crooks cricketer who took match fixing bribes.Hit them hard with tax recover and penalty notices

All these kind of things are good for the player, the game , the society and the country. None of these guys are bigger than the game or the society they live in or the country they represent. I am from India and we have politicians who are taking the country to the cleaners, taking society for granted and abusing the very people who made them. Same in Pakistan. Get all the rules together and enforce them on one and all - Prince and Pauper. They are not gods. Let us not give them the feeling they are.
what about the rest of the team? how much tax did everyone pay, they should make it public.
