Overflowing: 60 vehicles fined for overloading

A total of 60 vehicles have been challaned for overcharging and overloading sacrificial animals within the last 24 hours. A city district government (CDG) spokesperson told reporters that various teams had been constituted to take strict action against transporters indulging in overcharging and overloading on the eve of Eidul Azha.


Over 11 teams conducted raids at various roads and fined a total of 60 transporters involved in overcharging and overloading animals.

The accused were issued tickets and warned to abide by government directives and avoid overloading animals, which could lead to accidents. “We have impounded trucks where the drivers had tried to load in over 90 animals in one truck,” said a CDG official Rahat. He said that checking squads had been deputed to conduct raids on a daily basis to check overloading and overcharging with regards to public transport. In this connection, a complaint cell has also been established at bus/wagon stands.
