“My new show is going to be very interesting. It deals with people who make opinions about actors. Just like people are crazy about Bollywood actors, there are some who totally hate them. So it is just my attempt to bring them face-to-face with the actor they hate and help them change their mind,” says Rampal.
The show The actor, who has earned rave reviews for his looks and acting in Shahrukh Khan’s superhero project RA.One, feels the boost in social networking, has urged people to express their views on actors and films more visibly. “There are so many social networking platforms — Facebook, Twitter and blogs, where opinionated people vent their opinions. Most of the times, they are strong and justified opinions, so it will be interesting to see when such people meet the person they are so fond of. I mean this sarcastically,” said Rampal.
The model-turned-actor, who started his film career in 2001 with Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat, was written off as wooden and expressionless after no show in Moksha, Deewanapan and Dil Ka Rishta. But projects like Om Shanti Om, Rock On and Raajneeti came as a turning point in his career. He even won a national award for his supporting role in Rock On.
“I faced quite a lot of criticism at the beginning of my film career. People made an opinion about me too fast. But once some of them met me, they were able to change that opinion. I hope that through my show, people go through a similar experience and are able to change their opinions about actors, because each one of us works very hard,” he said.
