Earlier on Thursday, Butt’s lawyer had confirmed that the appeal would be filed in the next 24 hours.

Butt who was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison with a fine of £30,937, insisted that he was trapped in the spot-fixing saga.
The sentence could be reduced to half the term for good behaviour.
Earlier on Friday, Butt's father Zulfikar Ali Butt said, “If Salman’s involvement is proved and evidence is provided that he took money, I tell the nation that my son Salman and I are ready to be hanged publicly.”

Zulfikar had told AFP that his son’s conviction was a “big tragedy” for the family and that as a result, he had been forced to postpone his 22-year-old dentistry student daughter’s impending nuptials.
