Acid throwing: Accused gets 28 year sentence
FAISALABAD: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) convicted an accused involved in throwing acid on a girl in the limits of the Jhang City police station on Friday.  According to the prosecution, Abdus Sattar and his accomplice Umar Ali, threw acid on Najma Bibi in Chak No453-GB on July 29, 2011. ATC judge Raja Ishtiaq Ahmad sentenced Sattar to 20 years imprisonment and he was directed to pay a fine of Rs 200,000, or undergo an additional 2-year sentence. The court also awarded Sattar eight years imprisonment under Section 336 of the Pakistan Penal Code and directed him to pay half diyat to the aggrieved lady.
