Murder Attempt: Prayer leader shot, injured in Quetta

A local cleric was shot and critically injured by unidentified assailants on Kasi Road in Quetta.

QUETTA: A local cleric was shot and critically injured by unidentified assailants on Kasi Road in Quetta on Thursday. According to the police, prayer leader Ghulam Yasin was attacked by armed men near his mosque situated in Ibrahim Street after Asar prayers. Yasin was rushed to the Sandeman Hospital for treatment where he was referred to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) because of his critical wounds. “He was shot in the head and his condition is stated to be critical,” doctors said. Police officials reached the spot after the incident and have opened investigation. “Yasin who was also teacher at a government-run school had been receiving threats from unidentified people,” some students said on condition of anonymity.
