The president of the Pakistan Muslim League- Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) for Sindh, Ghous Bux Khan Mahar, has emerged victorious in the re-polling for NA-203 in Shikarpur. The polling took place from 9 am till 5 pm at 42 stations in Lakhi Ghulam Shah and five in Garhi Yasin.
The Sindh High Court had ordered the re-polling after the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) member, Sardar Wahid Bux Bhayo, filed a petition.
Though he was expecting support from his party, its leadership asked him to withdraw from the re-polling as it had reconciled with the PML-Q. Talking to The Express Tribune, Bhayo said that President Asif Ali Zardari had ordered him to give up his candidacy and therefore the election became one-sided. According to the unofficial results, Mahar bagged 57,927 votes, while Bhayo got only 250.
