The Pakistani cricket trio, Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir, were given prison sentences on Thursday by a crown court judge in London after being found guilty in a spot-fixing case.

Local Twitter users were divided over the sentencing; some felt sympathy for the players being jailed, while others felt they got what they deserved.

Here are some of the top tweets:

The reality of their crime will hit them once the prison door is slammed shut at night @Pakistan #cricket #spotfixing

Stop with the complaints. If #Pakistan & #PCB WANTED, it would have stepped in. Fact: too late.

Judging by people's tweets it seems as if they discovered corruption in cricket with the trial of the Pakistan trio. Precedence exists.

The sentence might be harsh but we're all stunned because no Pakistani ever got punished for corruption, like ever. #spotfixing

Personally I think they got off easy #Pakistan #cricket #spotfixing. They could have received much longer sentences.
