PESHAWAR:

Following the blast at Karkhano Market, the City police have decided to put security in Peshawar on high alert to ward off threats of terrorism on the eve of Eidul Azha.

The Capital City Police Office (CCPO) has deployed women police officers at all important public places for this purpose, said CCPO spokesperson Inspector Nisar Khan. He said that special security arrangements have been made for women and children at shopping areas, such as Gora Bazaar, Shafi Market, Liaquat Bazaar, Meena Bazaar, Shaheen Bazaar, Qisakhwani Bazaar and Khyber Bazaar.

As per the security plan, all Station House Officers (SHOs) have been directed to keep a close eye on suspected elements’ movement at bus stops, mosques and imambargahs, he added.

In addition to that, policemen in plain clothes have also been deployed at all important places, said Khan.

He also said that a crackdown against proclaimed offenders and outlaws has been started while 43 people including 27 proclaimed offenders have been held.

The CCPO also directed the SHOs of rural areas to intensify patrolling in their respective jurisdiction to curb terrorism.
