Massive power shortfall across Pakistan
LAHORE:
A huge gap in the demand and supply of electricity has been witnessed across the country as PEPCO faced a shortfall of nearly 5,000 megawatts on Sunday.
Sources said currently power generation in the country stands at 12,540 megawatts while demand stands at 17,430 megawatts. The reason for the widening gap between demand and supply is being cited a technical fault in three power plants Hubco, Uch and Chashma.
Aside from this, PEPCO is also providing 670 megawatts of electricity to Karachi Electric Supply Company. According to PEPCO, independent power producers are inducting 4,892 megawatts into the system while rental power plants are producing only 54 megawatts.
