QUETTA: Trading activities limped back to normal in Balochistan on Saturday after a three-day shutter down strike. Everyday life was paralysed in the province after the assassination of Balochistan National Party - Mengal (BNP)leader Habib Jalib.

Jalib’s party had called the strike for three days besides announcing a 40-day mourning period.  On Saturday main markets, trade centres and shops in Liaquat Bazaar, at Jinnah road, Prince road and Abul Satar road were opened. Stringent security measures however were in place as the police and Frontier Corps continued patrolling the roads.

In the meanwhile, workers of the Balochistan National Party Noushki staged a demonstration in front of the Quetta Press Club against Jalib’s killing. The protesters chanted slogans against the government. Addressing the demonstrators, president of BNP Noushki, Khursheed Jamaldini said that the provincial government had failed to protect the public as well as political leaders.
