Lawlessness: FIA officer shot dead in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Unidentified assailants gunned down a deputy director of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in the limits of Banamari Police Station on Monday night, police said. A police official told The Express Tribune that the attack took place at around 8:00pm, when the deputy director Akramullah was returning from a mosque. Quoting his son Shahbaz who was with his father when he was attacked, the official said that a person wearing a shawl opened fire at his father, killing him on the spot. However, another official said that the attackers were on a motorbike. On the report of his son, Banamari Police registered an FIR against unidentified attackers. It was not immediately clear what the motivation was behind the attack. This is the first such attack on any senior government official in Peshawar this year.
