Urea: Tender for import of 45,000 tons

The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has awarded a contract for import of an additional quantity of 45,000 tons of urea to Helm Dungmittel, Geneva against a tender opened on October 28, at the lowest quoted price of $538 per ton, including cost and freight. The bidder initially quoted a higher price, but subsequently agreed to match the lowest price of $538 per ton and supply the offered quantity of 45,000 tons. In view of the urgency of urea import for the current Rabi crop sowing season, the TCP said the government has allowed matching of the lowest bid. With the latest award of contract, total import of urea against the tender is 260,000 tons. A fresh tender for the import of the balance quantity of 440,000 tons has also been issued, with November 10 the bid opening date.
