LAHORE:

A consumer court has issued notice to the proprietor and a salesman of Marigold Enterprises for November 4 after the company was sued for Rs1,500,000 for allegedly selling a defective cooking range.

Petitioner Abdul Islam contended that salesman Muhammad Mazhar had advised him to purchase the Commodore cooking range for Rs9,500 as it came with a lifetime guarantee.

He said that when they returned home, they found that it was out of order. He said the respondents promised to fix the range, but they never did so. He said, they refused to replace it.

He asked the court to direct the respondents to pay him Rs1,500,000 in damages and for the “mental agony”.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Muhammad Mazhar said that the complainant had been offered a replacement cooking range but he had refused it, saying he wanted to take the company to court.
