Punjab Irrigation & Drainage Authority (PIDA) has constituted 51 farmer organisations in the Lower Bari Doab Canal System, which will be responsible for maintenance of canals in their respective areas under a public-private partnership. In this regard, a meeting was held in the office of the Punjab Irrigation & Drainage Authority with General Manager (TM) Faiz Mohyuddin in the chair. Among others, GM (Op) Chaudhry Karamat Ali, GM (Finance) Asif Sohail and Lower Bari Doab Canal Improvement Project project director also attended the meeting. The meeting reviewed arrangements of transferring irrigation management to farmer organisations in the Lower Bari Doab Canal system. The Lower Bari Doab Canal programme director (Reforms) briefed the meeting about operationalisation of FOs.
