Online Resource: eLibrary USA launched in the Punjab

LAHORE: eLibrary USA, an electronic library resource that provides free access to more than 20 free professional and commercial databases, was launched by Nina Maria Fite, the US Consul General. The database can be accessed from anywhere in the Punjab where internet is available. The databases available include those of science and technology, current events, children’s education learning, documentaries and encyclopedia Britannica, among others. Access will also be available to E-brary (an online library). Leslie Nunez Goodman, the information officer at the Consulate, said that anyone can request log-on information by sending an e-mail to irclahore@state.gov. She said the expected response time was two days. The username and password will not expire. “The launch of eLibrary USA and the outreach by our Information Resource Centre (IRC) is part of the US commitment to freedom of information. This is a renewed push to make information, and ourselves, more available to the people of the Punjab,” said the Consul General speaking at the launch.
