KARACHI: More than 20 suspects and weapons were detained by police during a search operation in the Godhra area of Karachi, Express 24/7 reported Friday.
According to a police official, the entrance and exit sites of Godhra were blocked during the search operation.
During a door-to-door operation, the police also seized three Kalashnikovs.
Sources said that a number of police officials took part in the operation.
Earlier on October 15, the offices of the Sunni Tehreek (ST) and Ahle Sunnat wal Jamaat (ASWJ) were destroyed by the Frontier Constabulary (FC) and the police during a joint operation in Godhra.
The local administration also helped the FC and the police by providing them with bulldozers, equipment and labourers to raze illegal street barriers, banners, boards and the buildings. A heavy contingent of law enforcers was deployed in the area to deter violence and prevent reconstruction.
