VC Re-Appointment: UHS to respond to petition

LAHORE:

A Lahore High Court division bench sought report and paragraph wise comments from the University of Health Sciences (UHS) on a petition challenging reappointment of Malik Hussain Mubashir as vice chancellor. 

The petitioner submitted that the UHS was established under “The University of Health Sciences, Lahore Ordinance, 2002.”

The counsel for the petitioner submitted that Section 12 (5) of the Ordinance said that any person who was not eligible to be appointed as professor, was disqualified for appointment as vice-chancellor.

He said the respondent after attaining age of retirement was not eligible as vice chancellor.

He asked the court to direct that the post of the respondent be declared vacant.
