Shooting: Cop shot, killed ‘by colleague’

The incident took place at a lockup room following an argument.

RAHIM YAR KHAN:


A police constable was killed on Thursday at court premises in Rahim Yar Khan allegedly by a colleague who was later arrested. Another constable and a passerby were injured in the incident.

According to the injured constable, Akram, who was a eyewitness to the incident, Rehmatullah allegedly opened fire at Tanveer Wariach following an argument. He said the incident took place at a lockup room. Akram and the other injured, Ubaid, were taken to Shaikh Zayed Hospital where their condition was described by doctors who treated them as stable. District Police Officer Sohail Zafar, SP (Investigatins) Sheraz Nazir Khan and DSP (City) Ashfaq Ahmed reached at the spot and arrested Rehmatullah. SP Nazir Khan told The Express Tribune that an FIR had been registered against the suspect at City Division under Terrorism Act.
