Payment delays: Faisalabad teachers launch protest

Staged a demonstration within the campus on Tuesday against the non-payment of increased salaries.

FAISALABAD:
Hundreds of teachers from the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) staged a demonstration within the campus on Tuesday against the non-payment of increased salaries to university employees. The pay raise was announced three months ago by the government. The demonstration was arranged by the Academic Staff Association of the UAF. Protesting teachers wore black armbands and went around the campus, chanting slogans. They also boycotted academic activities in the campus after 11am. The protesters urged the UAF administration to solve the issue immediately so that employees get their due rights without any further delay. The association threatened that if the raised salaries were not paid, the academic as well as administrative staff will launch a massive protest, which will include boycott of teaching activities and protest rallies from the auditorium on October 26 and 27.
