Double Murder: Two more killed in dispute over one marla

LAHORE:

A man and his nephew were gunned down in an ambush in Dakhan Sharif on Tuesday, in what are thought to be the third and fourth killings in a blood feud over a single marla of land. Bashir Ahmad, 55, and Akram Ali, 40, were shot multiple times and died at the scene of the attack in Batapur.

The two were returning from the hearing of an attempted murder case at the Sessions Court to their house in Lakhon Sharif. Both were accused in the case.

Manawan Circle DSP Iqbal Hussain Shah said  the feud started a couple of years ago between relatives over ownership of a one-marla plot. He said that an FIR was yet to be lodged as an official complaint had not been made. In 2009, Bashir and Shehbaz, then a constable in the police, were named as accused in an FIR for the murder of Akbar in Batapur police jurisdiction.

Akbar’s father-in-law, who had witnessed the shooting, was also later murdered, in Mozang police jurisdiction. Younis, a relative of Akbar, later survived a shooting. He then lodged an FIR against Bashir, Shehbaz and Akram Ali for attempted murder.
